For more than a quarter century, CIMEX GROUP has utilized its extensive experience as a well-respected investment alliance on the domestic and international market to build an   impressive portfolio.       

Major past investments in the energy and engineering fields, such as in ENERGOPROJEKT PRAHA a.s, have greatly strengthened its holdings and contributed to its ongoing success.

Company Formation

CIMEX Karlovy Vary, spol. s.r.o. was founded by Jana Sobotová and Petr Lukeš. International trade and logistics were the focus of its activities.

1991

CIMEX INVEST a.s.

Investment company CIMEX INVEST a.s. was founded. Investment funds from nearly 50,000 shareholders were received during the 1st and 2nd wave of voucher privatization. During the nineties, CIMEX reconstructed many well-known properties, namely the Excelsior Hotel in Mariánské Lázně, Poštovní Dvůr and the Vindobona mixed-use building in Karlovy Vary.

CIMEX TRADING as

CIMEX TRADING a.s. was founded. It traded securities and was floated on the Prague Stock Exchange.

CIMEX GROUP

CIMEX GROUP was established. A number of major companies were included in its portfolio (ENERGOPROJEKT PRAHA a. s., Mechanizace traťového hospodářství a.s., Metroprojekt Praha, Vodní zdroje, leasingová společnost IB LEAS, a.s., porcelánka CONCORDIA a.s., Tatra Kopřivnice a.s., VT DIOSS Chomutov a.s., OREA spol. s r.o., and many others). Among notable investments in the energy sector were engineering and design services for nuclear power plants (Temelín, Dukovany, Jaslovské Bohunice, Mochovce) and coal power plants (Dětmarovice, Chvaletice, mělník, prunéřov, Tisová nebo Tušimice).

Orea Hotels & Resorts

The turn of the millennium brought new opportunities in the form of the franchising of the OREA HOTELS & RESORTS brand. At this time, CIMEX GROUP launched a massive reconstruction effort on hotels within the OREA chain. Concurrently in the USA, the CIMEX INVEST subsidiary invested in a variety of development projects.

EMPORIO CAFÉ

The CIMEX GROUP expanded its investment activities via acquisition of a network of EMPORIO CAFÉ luxury cafés.

Portfolio of office buildings

CIMEX GROUP strengthened its portfolio of office buildings intended primarily for commercial office rental. It acquired two office building complexes located on Kubánské Square and Perucká Street from the domestic construction giant Skanska.

Business with administrative buildings

CIMEX GROUP continued its activities in commercial real estate, namely office buildings. Major notable transactions were the sale of office buildings on Vyskočilova Street in Prague 4 and the acquisition of flagsship office building City West “B1”, located in Stodůlky in Prague, which features office and commercial space totalling over 24,400 m2.

CIMEX GROUP made two major acquisitions on Na Pankráci Street – Vyšehrad Garden office building (purchased from IMMOFINANZ group) and the ČSOB Leasing headquarters.

Vyšehrad Garden

CIMEX GROUP v  Prague street Na  Pankrác bought two buildings. She bought the Vyšehrad Garden office building from  IMMOFINANZ group. The subject of the second acquisition was the current headquarters of ČSOB Leasing.

Angelo by Vienna House

In October 2016, CIMEX GROUP acquired the four-star hotel Angelo by Vienna House, located in Prague 5 from the Austrian group Warimpex. This acquisition marked the extention and diversification of our hospitality assets portfolio.

Orea Congress Hotel Brno

The congress hall of the Voroněž Hotel is reconstructed and, as a result, the largest multi-purpose congress venue in Brno is created.

We digitize and  we automate our hotels

The rooms and gallery of the Pyramida Hotel are reconstructed. The restaurant of the Santon Hotel is modernised and the Horizont’s rooms are completely reconstructed. OREA HOTELS & RESORTS is the first to use Pepper the robot. The New Orea campaign is launched.

Orea Spa Hotel Cristal a  Orea Spa Hotel San Remo

The qualified investors’ fund, Edulios, sells City West B1 office building. In May, CIMEX GROUP buys two hotels in Mariánské Lázně, extending the Orea hotel chain. OREA HOTELS & RESORTS presents its new logo. The Horal Hotel is completely reconstructed, the rooms of the Devět Skal Resort are partially reconstructed and the reconstruction of the Pyramida continues. In Brno, the wellness centre of the Santon Resort is reconstructed and a new Relaxation Beach Zone is created. A new co-working centre, mo-cha, is opened in the area of the former Moravská Chalupa Restaurant in Brno.The Cimex group buys the former convent of St. Gabriel  in Prague Smíchov.

Sixty House

Reconstruction of the Sixty House office building (Prague 4). Reconstruction of the building and  the emergence of a multifunctional event and  office center on  Václavské náměstí 37. Reconstruction of residential housing Senovážná 8. Purchase, reconstruction and  preparation of the project of the historical building Gabriel Loci. Angelo Hotel Prague is  becomes part of the Orea Hotels & Resorts hotel network.

Václavské náměstí 37 a Gabriel Loci

Ongoing reconstruction of the Václavské náměstí   37 a  Gabriel Loci, reconstruction of Vista House and  Cimex House. Opening of the first Cimex Pop  Up Gallery supporting young artists. Created subbrand OREA Places offering apartment type living together with  hotel services.

Sensa Fine Food Bistro and mo-cha

The offer of the OREA Place Seno hotel is complemented by the SenSa Fine Food Bistro restaurant, where you can taste variations on recipes from different parts of the world under the baton of chef Zdeněk Křížek. The offer of flexible mo-cha offices comes to Prague in the renovated premises of the Vista House office building.
