Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week FW20 + SS21 is merging two seasons into one. There are also going to be two stages for the very first time. Advanced tickets for shows are available now.

The upcoming Mercedes Benz Prague Fashion Week edition will present FW20 collections in the see-now-buy-now format as well as SS21 collections in the more traditional format. The Fashion Temple is to be at Gabriel Loci – the grounds of former St. Gabriel’s Church in Holečkova street in Prague-Smíchov. There is going to be yet another innovation at MBPFW – two catwalk stages: Mercedes-Benz stage and Zalando stage. Between the 5th and 8th September, the Zalando stage will host designers and brands who have opted for an unusual presentation format of installations. These shows will be open to public free of charge.

“We have left the decision on the type of collections the designers choose to present at the Mercedes-Benz stage entirely up to them. We intend to provide maximum possible support to local designers, their work and the fashion industry. The Zalando stage programme will concentrate on designers and brands for whom sustainability and digital visualisations and technology in fashion is central to their new collections. We want to share this topic with the widest audience possible and that is why the programme is open to public free of charge for the entire period,” explains Lukáš Loskot, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week.

Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week will open by a unique performance by designer prof. Liběna Rochová at the Opening Party in collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar magazine on Friday 4th September at Gabriel Loci.

The fashion week catwalk programme will present the total of 24 designers and brands, three university studios and a shared block by the four finalists of the VAN GRAAF Junior Talent 2020 competition for young designers. The catwalk welcomes back designers Jakub Polanka and Petra Balvínová and her brand TIQE. Jiří Kalfař is to appear and present his work to the event’s visitors for the very first time. New collections will be presented by Daniela Pešková, Michael Kováčik, Tereza Vu, Lukáš Krnáč, Martin Kohout, Hana Frišonsová, Dominika Kozáková, Jakub Patka with his brand JAKUBPATKA, and Zoltán Tóth, whose show is held in collaboration with the LEVI’S brand, furthermore, the Ether brand by designer Eva Vontorová, the AiM brand by Michaela Hriňová, NANICHE by Natalie Dufková, the IMRECZEOVA brand by designer Zdeňka Imreczeová, and one of the greatest fashion brands in the country Pietro Filipi. Collections will also be presented by Jan Černý, Vanda Janda, or ODIVI. The MBFW complete novices are designer Denisa Dovalová with her brand Denisa Dovala and Slovak designer Pavol Dendis. The full programme of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week edition is available online and tickets are available from the GoOut network. In case of an unfavourable situation with regards to covid-19, the organizer is prepared to change the event into an outdoor format.

“This year’s September MBPFW edition is again offering a fantastic programme. In particular, the installation on the Zalando stage shall hint at the numerous similarities between the automobile industry and fashion. There, fashion will be linked with digital visualisations and technology, while in Mercedes-Benz cars technology is used to enhance natural interactions between a car and its passengers. Our MBUX system now enables people to control a number of functions and settings with their voice or gestures,” comments Mercedes-Benz Cars ČR CEO Wolfgang Bremm von Kleinsorgen.

The Zalando stage will host a giz’mo.lab installation, a new collection by NAUT, and an installation of an experimental project OFFORM3D linking fashion with digital visualisations and technology.

The main programme also includes a gala premier of In the Footsteps of Christian Louboutin, a documentary about the designer’s world and his approach to the process of creation. The film was made in cooperation between Česká televize and German-French television ARTE. The opening night, organized together with Česká televize, is scheduled for Thursday 10 September at Institut Francais. The documentary will also be broadcasted in autumn 2020 by Česká televize.

Apart from its Saturday to Tuesday programme, the Zalando stage will host a number of events free of charge, e.g. Bibloo Bubble party at Bibloo Concept Store on (Wednesday 9.9.) and a series of lectures and discussions on breaking the boundaries in fashion, which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and evening (9.9. and 10.9.) at SmetanaQ Gallery on Smetanovo nábřeží, or the after party at Groovebar on Tuesday (8.9.). As is tradition, the programme also includes a fundraising-sport event organized by Tereza Maxová Foundation – TERIBEAR Moves Prague, or a Fun Movement with a Bear (from 10.9.).
